Just hours after the Chennai based US Consulate announced busting a visa racket involving film personalities, the Andhra Pradesh Police said that they were awaiting a communication from their counterparts in Tamil Nadu about the possible involvement of cine actors in the State.
In a statement, the US Consulate said that its Fraud Prevention Unit had unearthed the scam in which several film actors and directors used their positions to lend credibility to several unqualified applicants. According to AP police, nearly 200 such persons from the State of Andhra, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu applied for visas but only half of them were issued visas.
The Royypettah police have registered cases against two film actors viz., Flora Shiny who acted in a few Tamil and Telugu films and Srilatha. Both were arrested two days ago according to police sources. The US Consulate officials while confirming contacted the Hyderabad police seeking information about some people a months ago said the City Police Commissioner, B Prasada Rao. However, he said that they did not receive any request from the Chennai police for details.
